First ZEI MeRiT neXT sold: ZEI boosts strategy of Sou Korean semiconductor memory manufacturer

A South Korean Tier One semiconductor memory manufacturer follows the strategy of applying innovative technologies as a response to the rapidly changing business environment. The ZEISS MeRiT neXT is now a component within that strategy as it enables the repair of smallest defects on photomasks. The manufacturer will process diverse future generation mask types with the ZEISS MeRiT neXT.

Andreas Pecher, Head of ZEISS strategic business unit Semiconductor Metrology Systems states: "Our customer secures competitiveness in future by relying on low energy e-beam mask repair. The ZEISS MeRiT neXT enables mask shops finally to repair clear as well as opaque next generation defects. Accuracy and imaging quality are remarkably high, which results in ultra-high precision repair."

The ZEISS MeRiT neXT mask repair tool hosts the innovative ZEISS low energy ebeam column. The chemical toolbox allows a massively enhanced selectivity and addresses more blank types including EUV and high durable Phase Shifting Masks (HD PSM). The ZEISS MeRiT neXT introduces a novel Rapid Probe Microscope (RPM), a new type of AFM, which operates at SEM speed level. The RPM enables applications like repair verification, 3D feature analysis and repair of Chromeless Phase Shifting Lithography (CPL) as well as buried multilayer defects on EUV masks.
