PSL results and PSL standings on 11 December 2018

Orlando Pirates will finish the season on the summit of the log after grabbing a crucial three points by beating Free State Stars 3-1 at Goble Park, in one of four PSL fixtures on Tuesday night.

The Buccaneers went into the encounter reeling from the disappointment of the Telkom Knockout final and looked quite assured early on.

It took only 14 minutes for them to get on the scoresheet, as Thembinkosi Lorch finished off a slick set-piece move to grab his seventh goal in competitions this season.

The visitors were soon two-up inside 30 minutes and, this time around, it was Justin Shonga who struck to put some distance between the two sides.

Ten minutes after halftime, another Pirates player was on the scoresheet, but to the benefit of the hosts as captain, Happy Jele turned one into his own net to half Stars' deficit.

A nervy period ensued, but the visitors had the last laugh, as man of the match Linda Mntambo snatched the ball from teammate Augustine Mulenga to put the result beyond doubt at the stroke of full time.

Elsewhere, Mamelodi Sundowns dropped points at home against Baroka when neither side could find the net, with the game ending goalless.

The result sees the defending champions maintain their position of third on the log, while Bakgakga remain well in the danger zone at 13th.

The night's saw two other stalemates, as goals from Cape Town City's Riyaad Norodien and Chippa United's Rhulani Manzini ensured a share of the spoils at Athlone Stadium.

The other fixture was a four-goal affair where Polokwane City and Highlands Park score two apiece to grab a point each at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Mohammed Maluleke and Wiseman Maluleke scored for the hosts, while the Lions of the North's two goals came via Mothobi Mvala and Moeketsi Sekola.
