AP executive Brian Hopman is named new head of ENPS

NEW YORK - The Associated Press has named Brian Hopman, a company executive with broad international experience, vice president and general manager of ENPS, the worlds most popular multiplatform news production system.

In his new role, Hopman will be responsible for managing the ENPS business globally, reporting to Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Ken Dale.

Brian brings a wealth of experience as an international revenue leader for AP and has a deep knowledge of the ENPS product, Dale said. ENPS is a core business for AP and Im thrilled Brian will be leading it for us and am confident he will enhance and strengthen ENPSs leadership as the most innovative and essential newsroom production system in the market.

ENPS plays an important role for hundreds of media outlets around the globe and I see many opportunities for us to grow, Hopman said. With the help of an excellent team and feedback from a great set of customers, were going to keep making ENPS stronger and more essential. Im very excited about the opportunity to lead this team.

Hopman, who joined AP in 1998, has been APs general manager for Latin American and Spanish media markets since 2010. Previously he served as a regional director for broadcast markets in Latin America and the Southeast and was a national television executive. He began his career at AP with ENPS, supporting ENPSs U.S. customers.

Hopman graduated from Marquette University with degrees in broadcast journalism and political science and earned his MBA at the University of Maryland. Hopman succeeds Lee Perryman, who retired in 2015.

AP also named Andy Wormser as ENPS director of product design and Americas operations. Wormser, who joined ENPS in 2006, takes on a larger role overseeing global product development and design for ENPS while continuing to manage operations and support for the Americas.

Dale added: Andys success managing operations in the Americas and his experience as a broadcast station news director provide a unique skill set to lead ENPS product development and design.

In addition, Jason Smith was named director of customer engagement and escalation, a new role focusing on keeping key customers engaged and serving as an escalation point and technical resource to the global operations teams.
