$1b satellite boost for industry
Kalgoorlie Miner's Jarrod Lucas reports on Australian communications company NewSat who will launch two satellites within the next two years.
Lucas discusses NewSat's Jabiru-1 satellite which will boost the company's presence in South East Asia, the Middle East and North Africa, and Jabiru-2, which will deliver enhanced coverage in Australia, Papua New Guinea and Timor Leste. According to NewSat's sales manager Ashley Neale, Jabiru satellite capacity is a high-demand product and the demand is only going up'. The Jabiru-1 satellite is expected to surpass a net profit and achieve revenues of $US1 billion and $US2 billion respectively throughout its 15-year life.
