AWS has a significant presence at the IBC Show this year, erecting a stand (5.C90) that features 45 demos with 69 partners, showcasing real-world applications of how tools like cloud, generative AI, and monetization are converging to expand customer capabilities and revenue opportunities. SVG talks to According to Zach Dugan, the company's communications lead for M&E, games, adtech, and spatial computing, about the company's latest updates, including AWS Elemental MediaLive Anywhere for hybrid workflows, the cloud-native agile production project Cloud Native Agile Production (CNAP) project, and a new free digital learning plan for content production.
AWS Elemental MediaLive Anywhere is a feature of MediaLive that lets users run live video encoding on premises while using the cloud for management. As the name implies, users now can encode video using MediaLive just about anywhere. MediaLive Anywhere is deployed on the user's hardware, with video processing performed on premises while configuration, control, monitoring, and management tasks are done in the cloud. With MediaLive Anywhere, organizations can improve hybrid workflow operations, minimize video transit, and connect to on-premises video sources and destinations.
The CNAP project is an open-source initiative aimed at accelerating the creation and delivery of media during live production. Developed in collaboration with BBC's research and development (R&D) team, Sky, and AWS Partners, including Adobe and CuttingRoom, CNAP debuts as more news, sports, and entertainment productions look to develop ancillary content for live programming. CNAP's interoperable framework provides a single virtual store for live content, making it easier to migrate production to the cloud so that creators can work with their preferred toolsets to rapidly create video highlights clips and packages for integration into live content, social sharing, and other applications.
AWS has also launched a free digital learning plan, AWS for Media & Entertainment - Content Production Foundations, to provide training that allows content production teams to upskill their staff on cloud workflows. It is the second learning plan created by AWS Media & Entertainment (M&E) solution experts to train executives and industry professionals to run media workloads in the cloud.
