TMD returns as IT Broadcast Workflow sponsor

TMD (TransMedia Dynamics) will return this year to TVBEurope's IT Broadcast Workflow conference as a gold sponsor.

TMD will be offering a case study from Discovery Communications presented by Jim McGrath, Discovery's SVP of global media engineering. The Discovery case study will outline the challenges that must be overcome if asset management systems are to deliver the full promise of file-based infrastructures. The session will emphasise the importance of making data entry intuitive, and presenting the right information to those that need it, when and where they need it.

The first consideration is that you have to be flexible enough to capture, keep and repurpose a huge amount of metadata, TMD's CEO Tony Toller explained. Some of that will be machine-generated, some entered by people in different parts of the operation. The metadata will need to flow freely between integrated systems to maximise business efficiency and eliminate the risk of errors in data entry.

The key to this is to design the processes so they are simple and intuitive for operators, at each level in the enterprise, to add their metadata, he continued. No dull screens with hundreds of fields which someone has to scroll through to get to the box they are interested in, The user interface has to offer just the information that process and individual needs, and just the fields that need to be completed.
