This year marks the 70th year for CBS Sports' broadcasts of the Masters Tournament, and, although it's an event steeped in traditions like green jackets and azaleas in bloom, the broadcaster is taking advantage of the latest technology to give golf fans what they want: more golf.

CBS coverage of the Masters this weekend includes five additional hours of coverage this weekend via Paramount+.

There are some exciting enhancements this year as we continue to innovate while honoring tradition, says CBS Sports President/CEO David Berson. We have five additional live hours across CBS and Paramount+, and, both Saturday and Sunday, we'll have full coverage from noon to 7:00 ET with our main team.

Sellers Shy will once again serve as coordinating producer alongside producer Jim Rikhoff, lead director Steve Milton and director Bob Matina. Andy Freedman and Chris Svendsen will be in the all-important role of replay producer.

One of the biggest stories heading into this year's tournament is how the course was impacted by Hurricane Helene, which rolled through Augusta last fall. Some of the holes did suffer significant tree loss, which will give certain shots a new look (and challenge golfers in new ways because the holes will play a bit differently), but Shy says that, in keeping with the wishes of both CBS and Augusta, the production team won't be focusing on the damage with, for example, before and after photos.

Shy is going to let the coverage provide the unveiling of innovations and coverage philosophy, but he's particularly excited about how the 13th tee, 11th green, and 12th green will be covered.

We don't want to peel the curtain too much for you, he says, but the 12th green coverage is something that we have been planning for a couple years and continue to implement as appropriate. I'm also excited by an enhancement at 13 that is going to provide a different angle. We're trying to immerse ourselves not only on the course but specifically at Amen Corner, so I think it's going to be an exciting time for the viewer around [Holes] 11, 12, and 13.

The goal with enhancements is to be deliberate and methodical, Shy says. I don't want to leave out any of our partners or vendors that we're so proud of. What has stood out is the constant leaderboard, which has been a mainstay, not only on our network for the Masters but on every golf broadcast since our transition. And the drone clearly has given us a perspective that is sometimes eye-popping, and that has been an incredible enhancement to our overall coverage.

He also notes the FlyCams and Atlas cameras to add a cinematic look via shallow depth-of-field. We're very proud of our complement at the Masters and, frankly, all season long.
