As Earl Miller Productions (EMP) the Texas-based mobile production provider, continues their HD upgrades for its EMP Unit 3. The 34-foot truck maintains EMPs commitment to consistency and world-class imagery, with six new Ikegami HDK-79EC2 HD Native Multi-Format CMOS Cameras on board.
EMP Unit 3 is the latest in EMPs four-truck fleet to feature HD Ikegami cameras, and will see heavy use nationwide for college sports and entertainment broadcasts on major networks. Ikegami has always performed extremely well in the many different environments that EMP has worked in, says Mike Miller, Vice President of Earl Miller Productions, Inc. Weve been an Ikegami user for 25 years and we remain loyal to them, both for their performance in the field and their excellent support.
When it comes to the picture the HDK-79EC2 produces, weve found it to be a cleaner image than what many other cameras produce, Miller continues. We frequently get comments from our customers that they are significantly less noisy, especially in the blacks. Weve always preferred the Ikegami image - its very pristine.
EMPs experience has been that Ikegami cameras have the reliability to match, even under the extreme duress that comes with mobile production. Our cameras are assembled and disassembled daily - theyre put into challenging weather conditions that include snow, rain and high heat, Miller notes. Despite that, our Ikegami cameras have always performed flawlessly. When service is needed, Ikegami has always supported us very well.
With its ability to deliver both exceptional 1080i and 720p HD 16:9 video (or 4:3 SD), Ikegamis HDK-79EC2 employs Ikegamis latest 2/3-inch 2.5 mega-pixel CMOS sensors. The HDK-79EC2 can be used with Ikegamis CCU-890M camera control unit for built-in fiber and optional triax connectivity for convenient mobile and studio flexibility. EMPs engineers can choose the type of camera cable with a simple switch at the CCU, combined with mounting the docking FA fiber adapter or TA triax adapter to the camera head, making the cameras very versatile.
