VNPTi Chooses ATEME to Cover APEC 2017 Event in Vietnam

ATEME announced today that VNPTi (a subsidiary of Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications), the biggest satellite transmission service provider in Vietnam, has deployed its Kyrion encoders and decoders to cover the APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) 2017 event in Da Nang in November this year.

By choosing ATEMEs solution, VNPTi is able to benefit from the most efficient video compression technology and unequalled bandwidth efficiency, while also maintaining the best video quality for viewers. ATEMEs encoders/decoders were already adopted by VNPTi for their DSNGs in the past, and this previous successful experience led VNPTi to use ATEMEs contribution technology to transmit their full package of bandwidth and uplink services to both Vietnamese and international broadcasters.

Based on the ATEMEs fifth generation STREAM compression engine, the Kyrion encoder/decoder provides the best baseband video quality at minimum bitrates. This solution has been designed for contribution over satellite and IP networks, with added value features such as ultra-fast-boot, ultra-low latency, and ABR output. The ATEME Kyrion offers a software-upgradable HEVC encoding option to support UHD video streaming as well as legacy MPEG2 to H264 compressions.

In 2015, we equipped a number of ATEMEs encoders/decoders for our DSNG and we used them to provide media transmission services for many important political, cultural and sporting events in Vietnam. We were very happy with the quality and robustness of these products, and for that reason we are about to equip two more DSNGs with ATEMEs encoders/decoders for the APEC 2017 event in Da Nang in November 2017.
