Mzansi Magic's hit telenovela, The Queen lost 300 000 viewers during August due to poor storylines and Connie Ferguson's absence.

Actress and creator of the show, Connie Ferguson who plays the role of Harriet Khoza recently took a break from filming due to her husband, Shona Ferguson's passing in July.
The actress was mourning the loss of Shona Ferguson who was her soulmate and was coming to terms with life without him as her business partner.
The pair co-created Ferguson Films in 2010 which produced a variety of drama series' such as The Throne, Rockville, The Gift and many more

Her absence from her Mzansi Magic telenovela may have affected ratings as the Broadcast Research Council reported that the show earned 1 million viewers in comparison to July's ratings of 1,3 million viewers.

CURRENT STORYLINE Viewers were looking forward to her character, Harriet Khoza's budding romance with her arch-enemy Hector Sebata (Rapulana Seiphemo) before she disappeared to Northwest province on the show.

The storyline was conceptualised way before her husband contracted the coronavirus and passed away.
Viewers preferred her romantic storyline with Hector in comparison to Brutus (Themba Ndaba) and Noma's (Brenda Ngxoli) romance that dominated the show for over a month.
Fans also complained about Thando Sebata's (Jessica Nkosi) absence as well as Lorraine Moropa's character (Olerato) throughout the month.
#TheQueenMzansi viewers were relieved to see the actress's return to the show after she recently shared that she received a beautiful welcome back from the Ferguson Films team on set.
It is unclear when Connie Ferguson will appear on the show at this stage.
