American attempts huge jumps at stunning Siete Tazas rock pools in Chile posted: 30/03/2020

Steel Lafferty is well known for breaking new ground in the wakeboarding world and his new project tackling the stunning Siete Tazas (Seven Cups) rock formation in Chile is no different. Here is all you need to know.

- The American and his trusted team set up a daunting run comprising seven waterfalls and seven jumps including breathtaking drops of seven and eight metres.

- Lafferty said: It was a very crazy idea and very difficult to make. I think it was the most complicated place I had ever been.

- Lafferty and his team of climbers spent hours finding natural anchors such as rocks and trees to rig up the tow line that helped propel him down the incredible run.

- He revealed, There is this huge glacier up in the mountains and when it melts it creates this beautiful formation of waterfalls that we can attempt some crazy stuff on.

- Steel mastered the drop of around seven metres, but could not land the final jump of around eight metres.

- He added, The final jump was like dropping out of the sky. That feeling you get in a rollercoaster. I will come back hopefully in the next few years and conquer it.

- The 25-year-old went three days without amenities, facilities or even a phone signal.

- Lafferty was the first wakeboarder to land a wake to wake 1080 and a toeside backside 900 off a double up.
