Object Matrix, the leading provider of object-based storage to the media and entertainment industries today introduces the following new features and product offerings to be launched at the International Broadcast Convention (IBC) in Amsterdam:

New product packages that offer full financial and technical flexibility

Object Matrix adds greater flexibility for those wishing to integrate the MatrixStore object storage into their nearline, archive and business continuity workflows. It is now possible to implement, and procure, the platform in the following ways:

Hardware & Software

Software Only (new)

Subscription/Storage as a Service (new)

These new options offer complete financial and technical flexibility for broadcasters, media companies and post-production facilities of all sizes.

Software Only

The new software only deployment of MatrixStore provides the flexibility for organisations to re-purpose existing storage platforms or purchase hardware from existing framework agreements.

MatrixStore object storage software runs on the Ubuntu Server Linux Operating system. Ubuntu supports the vast majority of storage hardware available on the market today. Object Matrix will work with customers to make sure that each node in the cluster has an appropriate balance of disk, RAM, CPU and network capability to take the best advantage of the software.

Software Only Pricing

MatrixStore object storage software is priced per terabyte on a sliding scale based on used capacity. Prices start from £100 per terabyte. Minimum starting capacity is 240TB.

Subscription / Storage as a Service

Buying object storage in this way enables organisations to move storage from a CAPEX expenditure to the OPEX side of the balance sheet. 3 and 5-year subscription plans allow customers to plan their storage costs more effectively. One flat annual fee will cover MatrixStore software and annual support fees. Customers can choose to provide their own hardware or the solution can be delivered as an appliance.

Introducing 60TB, 120TB, 240TB and 750TB Usable Capacity Packs (packs are 10GigE and include redundant internal networking and first year HW/SW support)

New Functionality & Integration Options

MatrixStore Vision extra features

The web-based browser Vision enables users to search for, examine, add metadata and restore content. Vision also allows local and remote teams to work with content in a smooth, frictionless, environment.

Object Matrix have also added the ability to link proxies and thumbnails created by third-party transcode solutions with a new post - processing workflow.

Full S3 Compatibility

MatrixStore has substantially beefed up its Amazon S3 interface and is now fully compatible with all Amazon S3 commands related to data operations.

This enhanced integration allows organisations to use MatrixStore as part of any workflow that requires an Amazon S3 interface.
