Jeff Sousa, Co-owner and Colorist at Dungeon Beach I use Mistika Boutique to grade high-end commercials with demanding palettes. Fixed vectors are my main tool. I like to ride the sliders with my Wacom pen and keep my eye on the image until it clicks into place. It feels like watercoloring very tactile. Usually brands will give me Pantone swatches to match, and being able to push the colors around without creating any noise makes this fun and trivial. I can get the product dialed in within seconds. No need to pull a key. But aside from technical matching, the fixed vectors also help me achieve color harmony. Green and pink, for instance, can form a complementary pair if they oppose each other perfectly. But maybe the green grass in the image is too yellow, and the talent's pink dress is too magenta. By using the hue sliders, you can bring these colors into alignment, creating a bluegrass green and a peach pink. It's a very different way to grade than using traditional color wheels, which are broader brushstrokes that paint over the whole image. I actually had a project recently where I graded only with the fixed vectors, creating gentle exposure adjustments with the luma sliders, which in any other app would be noise central.

Mistika is my go-to solution for all post-production tasks: RAW conform (even up to 8K media), VFX reviews and re-conforms, SDR and HDR Color correction, VFX plates export including color space conversions, mastering, and importantly finishing and composition just to name a few. Being able to work with so many different finishing toolsets within the same piece of software has been a true life-saver so many times on tight deadlines.
