Start the 4 K-UHD Summit in which experts from around the world debate on Ultra high definition The position of DTT, cable, satellite and IP distribution before the irruption of the Ultra high definition marks the first day of the International Summit on UHD celebrated in Seville.
Sevilla has returned to join experts from around the world to discuss the development of the Ultra definition for the second year. The 4 K-UHD Summitorganized by Medina Media Audiovisual panorama as Main Media Partner, has opened in this Edition with a round table in which operators of cable, satellite and DTT have exchanged impressions on the takeoff of the Ultra high definition.
Fernando Soto (Movistar), Luis Sah n (SES Astra), Michel Chabril (Eutelsat), Jos Antonio Guerra (Hispasat) and Xavier Red n (Cellnex) have participated in the panel.
Fernando Soto began ensuring that Telef nica wants to migrate as soon as possible to the 4K making a strong bet on the production of Ultra high definition content. Soto has also anticipated that after the success of the broadcast in 4K of the classic Real Madrid-Bar a, the operator raises will now begin to distribute the world Moto GP in this resolution.
Precisely the still little production content in 4K is one of the concerns raised by the operators for the development.
For his part, Luis Sah n has emphasized the relationship between the development of Ultra high definition TV connected, stressing that by 2020 there will be 21,000 billion devices will be connected at the same time.
The 4K technology development requires investment in distribution networks as well as the momentum of connected TVs, underlining that due to the bandwidth involved the distribution of content in UHD, the satellite will play an important role in this new environment.
Xavier Red n has stressed that far from what could be the terrestrial digital television offers new technologies of statistical multiplexing, HEVC compression standard and DVB-T2 broadcast an extraordinary platform for the distribution of content in think UHD.
As shown, Cellnex Telecom is broadcasting live to Seville, Madrid and Barcelona three 4 K signals simultaneously from this 4 K Summit using a single channel of TDT.
The Olympic, UHD
Manolo Romero, Director for television of the IOC, of several international federations of different sports, Vice President of OBS and Chairman of ISB (International Sport Broadcasting), has participated in 4 K-UHD Seville Summit reviewing the link that has historically had the Olympic movement with the technological innovation applied to the audiovisual.
Romero pointed out how each edition of the games since 1936 Berlin meant another step in the adoption of the latest technologies to reach Rio 2016 where for the first time there have been a few games in Ultra high definition (4K and 8K).
For his part, Paulo Rabello, director of technology and architecture at Tv Globo, has intervened in Seville to share the experiences of the Brazilian broadcaster during the Rio 2016 games where in collaboration with NHK and NBC carried out a series of pilot experiences of production at 8K with high dynamic range.
Rabello has ensured that while "the UHD is a reality about OTT services but a sleep still take resolutions 8K by air". It has also pointed out that the 4 K and 8 K will open a new audio-visual language where speakers will include fewer cameras and a more panoramic realization with multiple audio sources will be used. On the other hand, has it been convinced that high resolutions will open the door to a television more immersive and emotional. Rabello has stated that "the TV manufacturers are willing to dispose of contents in 4K to boost the market".
Live UHD
An interesting round table to gathered in this 4 K-UHD Summit to producers, manufacturers and technology providers. Emili Planas (Mediapro) has begun its intervention ensuring that we do not need more pixels but more quality of pixels. He has also exhibited the position of the Spanish audiovisual group before Ultra high definition by pointing out that the Mediapro bet goes through a simultaneous production during a time of HD and 4 K with high dynamic range (HDR).
Christian Benzi (Eutelsat) has stressed that production increased in 4K is accelerating the adoption of the high resolution. Benzi has highlighted the bet which is carrying out the Italian RAI by the UHD with several ambitious productions such as the opening of the Holy door, which has qualified as the highest production carried out to date at UHD and HDR.
Klaus Weber (Grass Valley) has made a parallel between the phenomenon which meant the 3D and that is assuming the passage to the UHD. In his view, the 3D created a frustration in the Viewer, who will now attempt to remedy the Ultra high definition. Weber pointed out that equipment manufacturers have already on the market with a wide range of solutions 4K for capturing, mixing, storage and distribution but, however, from their point of view the producers are still somewhat reluctant to adopt the UHD as their patron in production. However, it is believed that this situation will change rapidly.
