UTOPIA OFF TO HIGHLY SUCCESSFUL START IN THE US
An overwhelming xx viewers tuned in to Fox network in the US Sunday night for the two-hour premiere of Talpa's groundbreaking TV format Utopia . Subsequent episodes of Utopia will air on Fox in the 8 pm timeslot every Tuesday and Friday evening.
Right after the premiere on FOX, the iOS App reached the top ten of most popular entertainment apps. By using the app and online platform, viewers can obtain an Utopia passport to make them become part of the Utopia community, giving them 24/7 access to live streams, premium content and the right to cast their vote. In addition to the app, Utopia connected with many viewers on social media. The clips have already hit 10 million loops on Vine, the video sharing service where users can create and share six second long looping video clips.
The US is the first country after The Netherlands to produce Talpa's high profile social experiment. The original Dutch version has thus far aired for eight successful months on SBS6. The program has nearly quadrupled the channel average in the extremely competitive access primeslot. In the meantime, Talpa also has sold its successful format to Germany, Turkey and Romania.
UTOPIA: THE SOCIAL EXPERIMENT
A group of 15 passionate individuals, the pioneers of today, bid farewell to their current lives. They have one year to build an entirely new existence, a new society, in a place where no rules, laws or power struggles exist. They start their own community with next to nothing. No one can predict what will happen. Everyone is able to follow them closely, since they started Friday the 29th of August, thanks to the more than 100 high tech cameras and dozens of microphones. The Utopia online platform offers viewers the opportunity to actually become part of the Utopia community, offering 24/7 access to live streams, premium content and even the right to cast their vote.
