Cabin Editing Company Welcomes Multitalented, Award-Winning Sam Ostrove as Partner/Editor

On the heels of opening its doors this fall, Santa Monica-based creative editing and VFX boutique Cabin Editing Company has brought on Sam Ostrove as Partner/Editor. A multi-award-winning Editor with Shots Editor of the Year nominations, Cannes Lions, AICE Best In Show, AICP and Clios, Ostrove brings a wealth of experience and accolades to CABIN. According to Ostrove, who spent nearly a decade honing his cutting skills at Cut+Run, his new role at the boutique offers him the opportunity to nurture and manage talent, as well as evolve his own creative capabilities.

CABIN encourages creative collaboration on all projects and teaching our team everything we've all learned along the way, which in turn nurtures great talent, Ostrove explains. Personally, I would like to push myself into styles of filmmaking I am not as familiar with, learning that craft from the other editors who are masters of it. The prospect of that is very exciting.

Ostrove says that his musical background has greatly informed his editing craft, ever since he veered from life as a drummer back in his native England. Rhythm and music was something I understood when I started to edit, and how they can be used to further tell your story as well as when, and when not to cut.

The newest CABIN member instilled a sense of emotion and sonic/visual ingenuity in his work across mediums during his previous tenure at Cut+Run, from multiple projects for Adidas, work for Volvo, Beats, the Grammys, Mercedes-Benz, NBA 2K and Converse to music videos for Run the Jewels and Jay-Z/Damian Marley. Along the way, he's collaborated with renowned directors including Gustav Johannson, Brian Beletic, Karim Huu Do, Rohan Blair-Mangat and Stacy Wall.

At CABIN, Ostrove joins a group of editors who share a level of like-mindedness and purpose. Making stuff you're proud of with people you grew up doing it with is a very special feeling, he notes. It has to stay fun and be about making things with people you love and respect. After joining CABIN with my best friends, it's now about growing a home where we can do all that, together.

CABIN Co-Founder/Managing Partner Carr Schilling echoes Ostrove's sentiment, adding, Sam is a phenomenally talented editor and an even better friend.
