The faith-based series Umkhokha returns as a telenovela Umkhokha: The Curse with new actors Scandal! star Gcinile Nkosi and Generations star Daniel Hadebe.

UMKHOKHA: THE CURSE' TAKES VIEWERS TO THE BEGINNING Drum reports that the telenovela Umkhokha: The Curse will not pick up from where it left off when Daniel Hadebe and Gcinile join the popular show.
According to the publication, viewers will see the new season introducing key players of the series and unpacking the chain of events that results in the battle of leadership, and the dangerous rivalry between the Mthembu and Gumede/ Mzobe families.

Duma Ndlovu, executive producer of Umkhokha - The Curse says: It has been amazing to watch this story grow from a 13-episode drama to a telenovela format. The drama has intensified, and the drama has heightened. There are so many twists in this long form. We believe and know that the viewers will relate and love it even more.
Actors Deli Malinga, Sibonile Ngubane, Nay Maps and Hope Mbhele will return as MaMzobe, Difa, Sphamandla, and Mabusi respectively.
Former Scandal! actress and Generations: The Legacy actress Gcinile Nkosi will play MaNzimande while Daniel Hadebe replaces The Wife star Mondli Makhoba as Reggie.

UMKHOKHA' REPLACES DIEP CITY' Entertainment commentator Phil Mphela reports that former Generations actress Sthandiwe Kgoroge will not be returning to Umkhokha: The Curse and the telenovela will replace Diep City from 6 March at 20:30 on Mzansi Magic.
The show which is produced by Rhythm World Production will now be head written by Siphosethu Tshapu and Kagiso Mogale.
Shirley Adonisi, Director of Local Entertainment Channels at M-Net tells Drum:
It's always a positive conundrum when viewers express that a show was on air for too short a time, and that was the overwhelming reaction we were met with when Umkhokha came to an end after 13 weeks. Audiences were glued to the show and constantly engaged with the story and spoke about it on social media and on the radio - so its return is long-awaited. We're pleased that it will now be a telenovela.
Remaining adaptable and listening to viewers' requests is an important part of what we do at Mzansi Magic. It's key to remaining relevant and in tune with our subscribers, she says.
