The European Broadcasting Union has announced that Pascal Fratellia, director of Olympics, is to leave the organisation after 17 years' service.

Fratellia has held several roles during his time at the EBU, including head of football rights, director of commercial and director of Olympics, his most recent position. He played a central role in securing key broadcast rights, including the FIFA World Cup 2018 and 2022 tournaments on behalf of more than 35 EBU members, said the organisation.

Glen Killane, executive director of Sport at the EBU, said: Pascal has been central to some of the most important contract negotiations we have conducted over the past 17 years, he is a highly experienced and professional colleague. On behalf of the team and our members, we thank him for his great contribution. We wish him every success in the next phase of his career.

Pascal Fratellia said: Working for the EBU and on behalf of our members has been an enormous privilege, I thank the members and the team for the great collaboration we have enjoyed over the years.
