KCETs Award-Winning Weekly Series SOCAL CONNECTED Looks at Two Different Strategies that Promise to End the Prolonged Problem of Homelessness in Downtown L.A.

BURBANK, CA - Oct. 1, 2014 - SOCAL CONNECTED, KCETs Emmy and Peabody Award-winning series looks at two different approaches to end chronic homelessness in L.A. County. One puts shelters first and social services second; the other deals with addiction and other problems first and provides housing later. Each strategy has its proponents, but which is more effective? Reporter Derrick Shore explores the complex problem of homelessness and profiles two homeless people, each being helped by a different organization with dissimilar policies.
