Comcast Business Powers 2026 THE PLAYERS Championship Network and Broadcast Infrastructure

Comcast Business deployed network infrastructure for the 2026 PLAYERS Championship at TPC Sawgrass, supporting on-site connectivity, broadcast production for NBC Sports, and the tournament's first RealTime4K viewing experience for Xfinity customers.

The tournament drew more than 200,000 fans and set a record for ticket sales. NBC Sports' final round coverage averaged 4.4 million viewers across NBC and Peacock - the largest audience for THE PLAYERS since 2021 - peaking at 7.1 million viewers.

On-Site Network Infrastructure

Comcast Business deployed approximately 600 miles of fiber connecting broadcast compounds, ShotLink scoring systems, production trucks, and network distribution hubs across the course. Nearly 58,000 devices connected to the network during tournament week, more than triple the prior year's total.

The deployment included:

400+ wireless access points

110 enterprise network switches

High-capacity fiber transport connecting critical operations across the venue

The network supported more than 16,500 peak simultaneous WiFi users and nearly 40 terabytes of overall WiFi traffic. Fans connected to enhanced WiFi networks consumed an average of 50% more data per user and uploaded 57% more content per user compared to standard connections.

WiFi 7 in High-Density Areas

Comcast Business deployed targeted WiFi 7 coverage using 6 GHz spectrum at The Bowl at 17, the 18th tee grandstands, Sawgrass Square, The Grove, the Comcast Business Pavilion, and Patriots Outpost. These areas consistently delivered speeds exceeding 500 Mbps, with peak performance approaching 1 Gbps.

Broadcast Infrastructure

Comcast Business delivered the fiber transport network connecting NBC Sports' broadcast infrastructure across the course, linking cameras, production compounds, graphics systems, and distribution networks. Four drones were deployed, including two equipped with the PGA TOUR's Drone AR technology.

Saturday's third round averaged 3.1 million viewers, the most-watched since 2021.

RealTime4K

For the first time at THE PLAYERS Championship, Xfinity delivered the tournament in RealTime4K. Viewers also had access to Fan View and Create Your Own Multiview. RealTime4K was first deployed at Super Bowl LX earlier this year.
