MEDIA RELEASE: SBS ANNOUNCES BIGGEST & BEST WORLD CUP PROGRAMMING SCHEDULE
Thursday, 29 May
News Release
SBS has today announced its complete slate of programming for the 2014 FIFA World CupTM season with more news, analysis and features than ever before; a show dedicated to the Socceroos and the live online streaming of all 64 matches for the first time.
The programming line-up features key entertainment and factual programming to complement the network's live and exclusive match coverage and multi-platform offering across TV, online, mobile, tablet and radio.
Helen Kellie, Chief Content Officer, SBS said: The 2014 FIFA World Cup will mesmerise Australians through June and July as the world spotlight shines on Brazil, and at SBS we've built a well-earned reputation for our first-class production and presentation.
For over 25 years SBS has brought the World Cup to the living rooms of all Australians and we are incredibly proud and passionate about doing so again this year, with this truly pinnacle global sporting event.
In 2014 we are excited to deliver our biggest, best comprehensive multi-platform programming line-up which will give every Australian the chance to experience the World Cup of a lifetime.
Our programming line-up offers something for all Australians - from live match coverage and news, to new entertainment, movies and landmark documentary series to inspire, challenge and entertain audiences throughout the 2014 World Cup season on SBS.
Ken Shipp, Director of Sport at SBS said: For the 2014 FIFA World Cup SBS will be providing more content across more platforms than ever before, making it our biggest World Cup yet. And Im prepared to say no other media organisation anywhere in the world will offer the depth of coverage SBS will offer.
SBS Media has signed six FIFA World CupTM broadcast partners: Hyundai, Nike, Kia, TAB.com.au, Samsung and TPG.
Adam Sadler, National Sales Manager, SBS Media said: The response to the FIFA World Cup has been extremely positive and it's fantastic to have Hyundai, Kia, Nike, Tab.com.au, Samsung and TPG join SBS for what will be the biggest sporting event in 2014. We have been working closely with our partners to develop a number of innovative activations that will come to life during our coverage .
Andrew Cook, Director of Sales, SBS Media said: For the first time ever, SBS has secured exclusive broadcast rights across TV, radio, online, tablet and mobile. This means more opportunities for audiences to engage with SBS's World Cup content and more opportunities for our broadcast partners to align with our exclusive coverage.
