Orad to unveil the world's first 4K channel in a box solution at NAB (both SL6319) 25 Mar 2014
This NAB, Orad will be presenting Blend 4K, the first ever 4K channel in a box solution (booth SL6319). The revolutionary new Blend offers a 4K clip server in XAVC and XAVC-S formats. The ultra HD XAVC uses level 5.2 of H.264/MPEG-4 AVC which is the highest level supported by that video standard , offering colour depths of 8-bits, 10-bits, and 12-bits. 4K, which promises to be the next standard in broadcast quality, is now offered in a single box, providing a 4K server coupled with 4K real-time 3D graphics.
Blend 4K offers real-time graphics rendering, supporting 3840 x 2160 resolution in 4 x 1080p HD/SDI outputs. Graphics can be used for any type of channel branding graphics, such as logos, coming up next, snipes, and squeeze backs of 4K videos for promoting the next show, etc.
Blend 4K also enables live video insertion in 4K and HD resolutions, providing the user with the freedom on the one hand to maximize the available quality, while on the other to continue using an existing HD source. Both video and graphics are controlled from a single playlist or manually, from GPI or by external automation.
Blend 4K is a fully integrated solution, including automatic file movement, copying and deletion of media files. All media files can be given metadata, proxy generated automatically in low resolution for preview.
As with all Orad platforms, Blend 4K is fully redundant, providing Raid 1 for operating system and redundant power supply.
