Fujifilm Excites the EHI Live Crowd with Latest PACS Innovations

The UK launch of Fujifilm's new 5th generation web-based PACS created a buzz at EHI Live 2016. Synapse 5 is an HTML 5 based zero footprint PACS designed to meet the challenges facing healthcare organisations today. It delivers a fundamental step change in image display speed, leading to increased productivity, enhanced collaboration and optimised workflows. Designed with speed at its core, Synapse 5 eliminates the delay between server and client. Studies are launched directly in the browser, with no desktop client download and no wait for images to cache.
The new generation PACS also provides an efficient solution for remote working across multiple locations. It addresses the challenge of reading increasingly large and complex modality data sets by utilising server-side caching, leading to 50% reduction in bandwidth requirements in comparison to current generation PACS technology.
Synapse PACS was introduced as the world's first web-based PACS in 1999 and is now the most installed PACS in the world. Synapse has transformed the management of electronic medical records including DICOM and non-DICOM data, be it in structured or unstructured format. By revolutionising clinical collaboration and data sharing across multiple healthcare organisations Synapse has ultimately improved the accuracy and delivery of patient care.
Fujifilm exhibited the complete family of Synapse solutions at EHI Live, including 3D, Mobility, VNA and Clinical Workflow Manager.
Commenting on their attendance, Opey Olorunlero, Synapse Product Manager for Fujifilm said: Synapse 5 pushes the boundaries of traditional PACS with its sub-second speed, fresh look, inbuilt data analytics tools and native support for display and processing of Digital Breast Tomosynthesis images. It has the potential to save organisations significant resources through reduced desktop management as there are no clients to install. The Global Worklist feature provides solutions for federated image and report sharing across any-vendor PACS system.
