The latest JNLR listenership results show continued strong performances across RT stations, with almost 2 million listeners tuning in across RT Radio 1, 2FM, lyric fm, and RT Raidi na Gaeltachta every week.
RT Radio 1 reaffirms its position as Ireland's biggest radio station, reaching more than 1.3 million listeners every week, three flagship programmes continue to attract audiences of more than 400,000 listeners. With strong performances across programmes in the mornings and late afternoons the new schedule is connecting with audiences, and RT Radio 1 remains at the heart of the national conversation, culture and public life.
RT 2FM is building momentum with younger audiences, growing to a 9.4% share among 15-34-year-olds. The station's refreshed schedule is bringing fresh energy, talent and ambition to the station and 2FM Breakfast with Carl, Roz & Aisling is now the top programme in the country for 15 - 34-year-olds. As 2FM evolves, it remains focused on connecting with young audiences through music, entertainment both on air and out on the road at festivals and events across the country. 2FM has had multiple special live broadcasts so far this summer including shows from Penny Lane for Pride, the Galway Races, All Together Now and Forbidden Fruit. The 2FM team will bring all the action from Electric Picnic at the end of August meeting audiences and connecting directly with our listeners through music, entertainment and stories that matter to them.
RT lyric fm builds on the consistent growth seen in recent JNLR books demonstrating that the thousands of listeners who have moved to the station are still choosing lyric fm. The results reflect a strong and sustained appetite for lyric's distinctive blend of classical music, arts, culture and conversation, highlighting the strength of its programming and its unique connection with audiences.
RT Raidi na Gaeltachta continues to play a vital role for Irish-speaking communities and audiences across the country, bringing listeners a distinctive mix of news and current affairs, music, culture and sport. With programmes and outside broadcasts connecting with communities nationwide the station continues to support the growth and everyday use of the Irish language. Later this year, C isir Cheoil - An tAmhr n is Ansa Linn, a live concert with the RT Concert Orchestra will be broadcast from Gort an Choirce, in the heart of the Donegal Gaeltacht on October 7. A selection of the top 40 most loved Irish language songs will be showcased on the night, songs that were recommended by the audience in the #Amhr nRnaG campaign that featured on the C isir Cheoil music programme during the summer months.
RT is also seeing strong growth in digital live listening, which increased by 3% this JNLR quarter compared with the previous quarter. Major news and sporting stories were among the content driving listening. On-demand listening is also delivering strong results, with podcasts such as Pirate Predator, the RT Rugby podcast and RT GAA podcast contributing to growth.
RT will further build on this momentum with the launch of a new audio app later this year and an ever-growing portfolio of original podcasts including titles like Unsolved, the recently launched true crime podcast with Barry Cummins and Katja Mia and Ramble with Joe McGuckan. Our new daily sports podcast hosted by Ger Gilroy, will also launch later this year as the new app provides audiences with an enhanced way to access RT 's live and on-demand audio content.
Speaking on the latest figures, Patricia Monahan, Director of Audio, RT said: These results are very encouraging and clearly indicate that our new schedules across RT Radio 1 and 2FM are beginning to resonate with audiences. lyric fm is maintaining the brilliant momentum it has built in recent years and Raidi na Gaeltachta continues to deliver for Irish Language speakers across the country.
In addition to that we are preparing to launch our new audio app in the coming weeks and will continue to develop our portfolio of original podcasts. Our latest release Unsolved, a true crime podcast with Barry Cummins and Katja Mia has performed extremely well since it was launched a couple of weeks ago and we will be launching our new daily sports podcast with Ger Gilroy, amongst other titles later in the year.

Morning Ireland remains Ireland's most-listened-to radio programme with 457,000 listeners this book. ( 5,000 BoB).
Today with David McCullagh has 422,000 listeners from 9-11am.
Oliver Callan has 285,000 listeners each day in his new slot from 11am-1pm.
News at One has 273,000 listeners.
Liveline has a listenership of 254,000 with presenter Kieran Cuddihy at the helm.
The Louise Duffy Show has 133,000 listeners tuning in for easy listening and great music in her new 3pm slot.
Drivetime with Katie Hannon and Colm Mong in has 211,000 listeners tuning in each evening from 4-6pm.
Inside Sport has 83,000 listeners every weekday.
Over on Weekends, Brendan O'Connor on Saturday has 400,000 listeners, with 399,000 tuning in on Sunday.
Saturday with Cormac hEadhra has 212,000 listeners.
Playback on Saturday has 306,000 listeners.
