Ningbo s cultural industrial parks bloom

As culture demonstrates a citys taste, the cultural industrial parks are the "cornucopia" of cultural charm. So far, there have been 31 cultural industrial parks with distinctive features, covering such fields as cultural creativity and design, cultural and art services, cultural information transmission services and the supporting production of cultural products, with the enterprises as main units, guided by the government and driver by the market force.

Culture is the basis of cultural industry. Over the past five years, the Xiangshan Film & TV City has become the second largest and most influential film and TV producing base in China, only next to the Hengdian Film & TV City, by attracting a large number of domestic and overseas producing groups. So far, the park has received over seven million visitors and over 420 producing groups. With 80 enterprises settling down in the city, it has formed a complete film and TV production and tourist industrial chain involving such sectors as scene production, customs and equipment, temporary actors, accommodation and catering and shopping.

Creativity is the source of the cultural industry. In June 2015, the LKK Industrial Design Center, the No.1 brand of Chinas industrial design field, settled down in Zhenhai District. Up to now, Ningbo National University Technology Park has introduced 809 cultural creative enterprises, with the total registered capital of 2.87 billion yuan, including 170 enterprises with the registered capital of over five million yuan. It is estimated that the cultural and creative enterprises in the park will realize an annual turnover of 1.83 billion yuan in 2015, with the tax revenue standing at over 50 million yuan. Similarly, after years of development, Ningbo Advertising Park, located at the southern business district, has become a leader of the advertising field. In 2014, the park realized a total advertising business volume of 1.22 billion yuan, accounting for about 20% of the whole industry in Ningbo.

Market is another factor essential to the development of the cultural industry. With efforts over the past few years, such large enterprise parks as the Hefeng Creative Square and Ningbo Book City have gained agglomeration advantages. While a large number of private capital-funded parks, including the Minhe Sailing Cultural Industrial Park and the Qiyun 86 Micro-film Industrial Park, have played an important role in promoting the development of the featured cultural industry by taking advantage of the market basis and the flexible system.
