Veteran actress Abigail Kubeka - who plays the character of Gog'Zondiwe in Generations: The Legacy has revealed that she's one of Mzansi's many veteran artists who are struggling and are on the verge of dying poor.

GENERATIONS: THE LEGACY' ACTRESS: ABIGAIL KUBEKA Veteran artists such as Generations: The Legacy star Abigail Kubeka who potrayrs the character of Go'Zondiwe in the soapie playwright Thapelo Taps' Mofokeng actor Andy Chebeli and singer Babsy Mlangeni have informed Daily Sun that they're struggling and living on Sassa grants.

This is after the veterans enrolled in Minister of Arts and Culture Nathi Mthethwa's Living Legends Project who promised them jobs.

Generations: The Legacy actress Abigail Kubeka told the publication:

I'm 82-years-old and I don't want to work anymore but I have no choice.

At my age, I'm forced to look for jobs, otherwise, I will not be able to buy my medication and food to pay my monthly bills.

The thespian who's got a supporting role in the SABC1 soapie adds that she's grateful for the role and she's getting a Sassa grant but it's still not enough.

WE ARE ON THE VERGE OF DYING POOR' The singer and actress also told the People's Paper that she has no choice but to work when she's sick otherwise she won't survive.

What makes it more painful is the fact that people think we're fine and doing well but that's not the case.

Today I want the public to know that we're on the verge of dying poor.

The 82-year-old also says that Mthethwa's project raised her hopes and did very little for the artists.

We were promised a lot of things and that R20 million was set aside for us but I don't know what happened to that money.

Personally, I'm very disappointed in Nathi Mthethwa. I've lost hope.
