CBS Sports Announces Tony Romo's Permanent Exit

CBS Sports and Tony Romo have officially parted ways, one month after the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback pleaded no contest to charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. Romo had been on leave since his July 23 arrest in Wisconsin. He had been the lead game analyst for CBS' NFL coverage since 2017.

CBS Sports and Tony Romo have mutually agreed to part ways, CBS Sports said Friday in a statement. We thank Tony for his contributions over the past nine years and wish him the best moving forward.

Analyst JJ Watt had joined play-by-play announcer Jim Nantz and sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson on CBS Sports' lead NFL team during Romo's absence. Watt will continue in that role now and all other CBS teams will remain the same.

I approached my role as a game analyst the way I've approached everything in my life - with a desire to win and be the best that I can be. I'm going to use this time to take a break, something I've never done before, and focus on my health and my family before moving on to my next opportunity. Braiden Bell Fired From Portland Trailblazers Hours After Announcement is Made

In a stunning reversal, the Portland Trailblazers fired its new play-by-play commentator Braiden Bell just hours after announcing the hire, once racist and misogynistic tweets the now 29-year-old Bell posted as a teenager came to light. It's unclear whether the Blazers will now turn to Kyle Draper, who finished runner-up to Bell for the job, or open up a new search. (The Oregonian)

Fox's Big Noon Kickoff to No Longer Have Dave Portnoy and Barstool Sports Involved

Dave Portnoy and Barstool Sports will no longer appear on Fox's Big Noon Kickoff pregame college football show, according to AP and The Athletic. The Barstool Sports founder, a Michigan graduate, said on social media that it was Ohio State and coach Ryan Day who forced Fox Sports to take them off the show. Portnoy began appearing on the show last fall after Barstool and Fox Sports announced a partnership. Big Noon Kickoff also features host Rob Stone and analysts Brady Quinn, Matt Leinart, Mark Ingram and Chris The Bear Fallica.

SportsNet Pittsburgh Extends Contract with Dan Potash

SportsNet Pittsburgh (SNP), home of the Pittsburgh Penguins, announces it has extended the contract of Dan Potash, the longtime and highly regarded studio host for the network's coverage of the team.

Potash will continue to anchor SNP's expanded pregame and postgame coverage of the Penguins as host of Penguins Tonight, Penguins Faceoff Live, Penguins Overtime Live and Penguins Postgame Final. He will also continue hosting several Penguins-focused programs on SNP, including Get Me The Brandy with Josh Getzoff and Katie Florio, and Inside Penguins Hockey.

Potash has been a fixture on Penguins broadcasts for more than two decades. Before becoming SNP's lead studio host Potash began covering the Penguins as their rinkside reporter in 2005. He originally came to Western PA in 2000 as anchor/reporter for FOX Sports Net Pittsburgh, where he also covered the Pittsburgh Pirates, a position he still holds today during the summer.

Dan is synonymous with Penguins hockey for so many fans across the region, said David Wisnia, President and CEO of NESN and SportsNet Pittsburgh. He brings credibility, preparation, personality and a deep appreciation for what this franchise means to Pittsburgh. A Southern California native, Potash previously worked as a weekend sports anchor and reporter in Charleston, S.C, and as a weekend anchor/reporter and sports director in Bridgeport, W.Va.

TNT Signs Multiyear Renewal with Anson Carter

TNT Sports has agreed to a multiyear contract renewal with Anson Carter. The Longtime NHL analyst has been a fixture on the network's studio coverage since it began its current media rights deal with the NHL in 2021, working alongside analysts Wayne Gretzky, Paul Bissonnette, and Henrik Lundqvist along with host Liam McHugh.
