The new CPU and GPU releases offer new possibilities for latency-critical production workflows

NAB Show 2018 , Las Vegas, April 9th - intoPIX, the innovative compression expert, has shown teasers to audiences at previous tradeshows with TICO CPU-based accelerated software for HD, 4K or 8K highlighting the quality, low-latency and speed advantages of the SDK.

Now, intoPIX shows its latest release going one step further with the additional support of GPU-based acceleration. The setup plays either a single 8K @ 60fps stream, either up to four streams of 4K @ 60fp, or up to 13 HD streams on a single NVIDIA GTX1080. In order to suit a multitude of applications and use cases, the GPU codec supports all bitrates and is optimized for NVIDIA, AMD and Intel GPUs.

The already deployed TICO SDKs work also on Windows PC, Linux or MacOS running on CPU. A 4K or 8K output or screen is not always required as the TICO codec supports a scale in feature during decoding; enabling users to manage visualization of high resolution streams at lower resolutions. The SDK also manages live feeds in real-time, with less than one frame of latency.

A demo showing the TICO SDK will be displayed on intoPIX's booth (C-8526) during the NAB Show. All visitors are welcome to check out the TICO codec's quality and efficiency on CPU and GPU for themselves.

About TICO compression

TICO is a compression algorithm, extremely light and low cost when implemented in hardware (FPGA/ASIC) or software platforms and boosting the AV transition towards higher resolutions such as 4K or 8K and frame rates. Published as SMPTE RDD35 and supported by the TICO Alliance, it produces a visually lossless compression with an extremely low latency (few lines in FPGA) at a low ratio (2:1 to 6:1). TICO is an acquisition and production codec designed for recording and transmitting content in live workflows. It is particularly suitable to be used with the SMPTE 2110 and SMPTE 2022-6 IP standards.
