
TV CDN pioneers' sponsorship celebrates filmmaking with accolades including the Edgeware Grand Prix Award
STOCKHOLM, Sweden - 16 November, 2016 - Edgeware, the pioneer in TV CDN technology, today announces that it will become the sponsor of the UK Film Festival awards, as the festival returns to London on 22 - 26 November. Edgeware will sponsor the festival's multiple accolades that are awarded at the end of a week that celebrates short and feature films as well as documentaries and animations. The festival culminates with the presentation of the Edgeware Grand Prix prize one of the biggest prizes offered in the UK for a Best Short Film award.
Run by director Murray Woodfield, the UK Film Festival was set up by a group of filmmakers with a passion for quality and creativity. Previous winners include Esio Trot, the Roald Dahl feature film starring Dustin Hoffman and Dame Judy Dench, and the short film The Karman Line with Olivia Coleman. The 2016 celebration will kick off with the opening night at the BFI (British Film Institute) Stephen Street in central London on 22 November where it will preview of a selection of upcoming films to invited guests.
The UK Film Festival's 2016 programme is curated by the twice Berlinale Award winning director Petros Silvestros and will feature a presentation of Timothy Spall's new film Stanley: A Man of Variety in which he makes cinematic history by playing all 16 characters.
The awards will take place on the final night of the festival, 26 November at the Shortwave Cinema in Bermondsey Square, London. Here Edgeware will present the Edgeware Grand Prix Award for Best Short Film. The competition's judging line-up includes Serena Armitage, who won the 2016 Oscar for Best Live Action Short Film with The Stutterer, festival director Murray Woodfield and Edgeware's chief marketing officer Richard Brandon.

The 2016 UK Film Festival will serve as the world premiere of Stephen Cookson's Stanley, a Man of Variety, in which Timothy Spall plays all of the film's 16 characters. The festival's short film programme includes Timecode directed by Spanish director Juanjo Gimenez and The Idyll which is directed by British director Justin Anderson and stars Emma de Caunes (The Diving Bell and the Butterfly) and Dougray Scott (Taken 3, Mission Impossible). One of the headlining films is the 2016 Oscar nominated, Everything Will Be Okay (Alles wird gut) directed by German director Patrick Vollrath.
