ROTOLIGHT IN THE AWARDS SPOTLIGHT

Rotolight, the award-winning British LED lighting manufacturer, has announced that AEOS, the ultra-thin location light, has been shortlisted for not one, but two respected awards within six months of its launch. The LED lighting innovation is up for both a Lucie Technical award and Pro Moviemakers Gear of the Year award.

The Lucie Awards honours the greatest achievements in photography and will be handed out at a black-tie gala awards ceremony at the famous Carnegie Hall in New York on the 29th October. The Pro Moviemakers new Gear of the Year Awards recognise and honour emerging new technologies and are voted for by filmmakers around the globe, with the winners announced in November.

Since its launch in April, AEOS has been making waves in the industry, garnering favour among users. The light was designed in response to user demand, specifically for portrait photographers and videographers on the move. The AEOS is both a strobe and continuous light, delivering a full range of functionality to users. It includes a number of innovative features, including integrated aluminium handles. This industry-first gives users the freedom to work the light at angles and positions not otherwise possible. In addition, the bi-colour location LED is one of the slimmest, most powerful and energy efficient on the market.

Receiving these award nominations for AEOS is very humbling, and we are incredibly pleased. We developed AEOS based on clear feedback from our customers that they wanted something powerful, but highly portable. AEOS allows photographers to be more creative and spend more time composing their perfect shot, rather than on cumbersome lighting setups, comments Rod Aaron Gammons, MD of Rotolight.

The AEOS also features a professional level ball head that provides complete 360-degree rotation, and 200 degrees of tilt when mounted to a light stand making it incredibly versatile and enabling users to achieve lighting setups not otherwise possible with traditional light sources.

As Stefan Lange, visual FX veteran known for films such as Batman, James Bond Spectre and Tomb Raider said at its launch: The AEOS is exactly the light that filmmakers and gaffers have been crying out for. Integrating the handles into the actual light just adds that dimension of flexibility to it and allows users to move and manipulate the light quickly and easily in order to get that perfect shot. I can see filmmakers and photographers alike getting great use out of this new light.

Another industry expert, world-renowned celebrity photographer Mark Mann, said: The AEOS provides the best of both worlds for photographers, as a strobe and continuous light. Often when youre using strobe youre not seeing what youre going to get when you look through the viewfinder. So youre anticipating what the shots going to look like. The fact that the AEOS can be used as both means I can actually look through my screen and know that is the colour and thats how the light is going to fall, which allows me to get to where I need to be quicker.
