The WPA collection includes the British Pathe Newsreel, one of the longest-running newsreels in the world, covering world events and personalities from 1895 to 1970. Strong on fashion, lifestyles, personalities, travel, science and technology, in addition to world news events, the British Pathe collection is one of WPAs most popular holdings.
In addition to the British Pathe Newsreel, WPA Film Library is the exclusive representative for the archives of public broadcaster WETA, with coverage of Congressional and Senate Hearings from as early as the 1970s. The Color Stock Collection from the 1950s is another client favorite, documenting Americana lifestyle images in luminous color, along with hundreds of vintage training films, funny video clips, home movies dating back to the 1920s, and classic commercials. WPAs Music Collections are another strength, covering many genres, such as the classic pre-MTV music television shows Hullabaloo and Music Scene. WPA exclusively represents the innovative Soul! Series which was recorded in the early 1970s and features music, interviews, and poetry by African American icons like Muhammad Ali, Harry Belafonte, and Stevie Wonder. Recent additions to the WPA Film Library include film footage on the spiritual, ecological, and economic significance of water, footage of Afghanistan, and coverage of late 1980s celebrities on the red carpet.
