Blue Is the Warmest Colour director calls star an arrogant, spoiled child

Who would have thought that Blue Is The Warmest Colour the three-hour Palme d'Or winner that features lengthy, explicit lesbian sex scenes would be more controversial for the off-set actions of its director and stars than its actual content?

Director Abdellatif Kechiche has published an open letter to star Lea Seydoux, calling her an arrogant, spoiled child and suggesting he might take legal action against her slanderous comments.

Actors Seydoux and Ad le Exarchopoulos have repeated on numerous occasions how little they enjoyed the shoot, both pledging to never work with the director again.

Kechiche has, seemingly, had enough, writing the following on Rue89. (Translated by THR.)

Miss Seydoux, who after having repeatedly thanked me publicly and privately and having wept in my arms at Cannes for allowing her to take on this noble role has, against all odds and all personal coherence, radically changed her attitude toward me.

Thus after having been celebrated and glorified thanks to the Palme d'Or won by Blue Is the Warmest Colour, she started to drag me through the mud with lies and exaggerations.

The actors aren't alone, however.

The French film union Spiac-CGT recently complained of the production's many violations of the Labor Code.

Blue Is The Warmest Colour hits cinemas in 2014.
