KCET Invites Viewers to Share their Compaion for Homele Men, Women and Children

Expected Guests to Include Actor Ed Begley Jr. Among

Los Angeles, CA - July 5, 2011 - KCET, the nations largest independent public television station serving Southern and Central California, joins The Midnight Mission in an effort to help the homeless men, women, and children of the community.

On Tuesday, July 12 at 8 p.m., the special event will occur throughout KCETs airing of Humble Beauty, a documentary on a group of homeless and formerly homeless artists on Skid Row in Los Angeles. The night will be devoted to encouraging viewers to help the homeless. In lieu of a thank you gift from the station, a percentage of their donation will be used to purchase life-changing supplies such as food, clothing, and toiletries to the individuals and families under these circumstances.

Hosted by Socal Connecteds Val Zavala and author Leyla Farah, the fundraiser will feature various guests, including actor and board member of The Midnight Mission Ed Begley Jr, along with Humble Beauty producers Judith Vogelsang and Letitia Popa Schwartz.

About The Midnight Mission:

Since 1914, The Midnight Mission has provided myriad services to the people of Skid Row and the greater Los Angeles area. Their objective is to work with homeless individuals and families to help remove obstacles to self-sufficiency, while ensuring that immediate needs like food, shelter, and clothing are met. They operate a drug and alcohol recovery program that offers a bridge to self-sufficiency through counseling, education, job training and placement. They also provide safe transitional housing to homeless families at our Family Housing Complex.
