The Summer NAMM Show (July 18-20, Music City Center, Nashville) is far more compact than its older sibling institution, which takes place in Anaheim, CA, each January. But, although the Winter NAMM Show has become the new nexus for pro-audio products and technology, eclipsing the fading AES Show's equipment expo in recent years, the summer show is also where those products receive the nominations for pro audio's equivalent of the Oscars: the TEC Awards. The nominees, from which the winner will be announced early next year at the TEC Awards 35th-annual event, were announced on Thursday, July 18, and the list included a number of SVG Sponsors, as well as key pro-audio brands.

There was a deep pool of TEC Awards nominee submissions this year, indicating growth in many of the categories TEC recognizes, said Eric Greer, supervisor, TEC entries and nominations. As the industry has grown and evolved, the TEC Awards has adapted by adding and modifying categories, and it's good to see that those introduced over the last decade post a strong number of entries. These innovations showcase the future trends found across sound production - from the evolution of signal-processing hardware to the rise of products for both sound professionals and audio enthusiasts - truly fueling this new generation.

The winners will be announced at the Winter NAMM Show at Anaheim Convention Center Jan. 16-19, 2020.
