Director Sophie Muller Introduces the Kills in VR with Omni

Legendary director Sophie Muller used GoPro technology to capture incredible visuals and immersive content in her first-ever virtual reality music video featuring The Kills. Muller utilized Omni, GoPro's synchronized 6-camera array, to create the rock duos' video for the track Whirling Eye off their latest album Ash & Ice.

Muller has been a leader in the music industry for over three decades, having directed more than 100 music videos and collecting a number of Grammy's and MTV Music Video Awards through the years. Muller is known for her unique style and incorporation of cutting edge technology. Even if you don't know her by name, you know her by the number of iconic music videos she has created. From Rihanna's Stay and Shakira's Hips Don't Lie to Maroon 5's She Will Be Loved and No Doubt's Don't Speak.

Muller and The Kills are no stranger to one another, having first worked together in 2008 for U.R.A Fever, Cheap and Cheerful, and Last Day of Magic; again in 2010 for Satellite; and, most recently, in 2016 for Heart of a Dog. For their 2017 rendition, the creative masterminds were keen to implement virtual reality into their latest project. Muller looked to GoPro as her creative technology collaborator. The result visually captured the feelings, expression and impact of The Kills' lyrics.

I have had a long term relationship with The Kills and an opportunity to work together, and in VR, was an experience I am grateful for having. There is a unique way to work with VR technology, and my approach was to test my limits, the band's and the tools, stated Muller. It was an experience and opportunity I hope to be involved with again.
