AP Archive confirms licensing agreement with NewSource Globo The Associated Press has signed an image licensing agreement with NewSource Globo, allowing it to distribute videos from the Globo collection to broadcasters around the world through its AP Archive platform. AP Archive already represents some of the most extensive collections from all over the world. NewSource Globo, which is Globo's news and broadcasting services agency, joins a collection of partners including British Movietone and ABC News.
Globo is the leading TV network in Brazil and produces more than 3,000 hours of journalistic content each year. Its audiovisual library is the largest in South America and has compelling footage from the last 50 years. Globo covers the main events in the region's history, from politics, economics and cultural changes, to sports, entertainment and lifestyle. The agreement with AP Archive will make that content available to an international audience, providing access to a wide range of customers, including broadcasters, film and documentary producers and commercial organizations.
We are already incredibly proud of our Archive collection, said Alan Bradshaw, head of international archives for AP. However, as our customer base becomes increasingly diverse, we are always looking for new ways to add to it. The new agreement will add a range of content to the Archive; Brazilian beaches, the Carnival in Rio, the Amazon rain forest, Iguacu waterfalls and different football footage. Demand for this kind of content will only continue to grow as we get closer to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

We have a vast collection that tells the story of a continental and diverse country. We are able to support networks and producers from all over the world when it comes to telling the story of our Brazil, especially this year, when we are going to host Rio 2016 Olympics.
The AP Archive collection includes more than 1.7 million global news and entertainment video stories dating to 1895, sourced from AP's own coverage and its content partners. Hours of new video footage are added daily along with coverage from AP's global newsgathering network. In July 2015, AP Archive was launched on YouTube, bringing more than 1 million minutes of historical footage to the platform, along with content partner British Movietone. The collection, across two channels, will be comprised of more than 550,000 videos dating from 1895 to present day. It is the largest upload of historical news content to YouTube to date.
