Audio Mixer

Record sound in studio or on location, usually in synchronization with the vision mixer/camera, Set up and oversee various audio configurations, Audio signal distributions, Convert audio formats to format required for broadcast

Check audio conforms to broadcast standards eg EBU, sync

Liaise with TD about show requirements

Setting up and checking remote feeds

Knowledge of:

broadcasting environment

language of television

Good understanding of the English Language

microphones

nature of sound and acoustics

role players

the comms system

various sources

Intensive knowledge of Live television broadcasts/shows eg News

Work shift and irregular hours, including weekends and public holidays

Shift Work

Good hearing

Computer literate

Have excellent timing and coordination skills, quick reactions, high levels of concentration

Understanding of control room hardware

Ability to:

take direction

give instruction

troubleshoot

work under pressure

work with crew and talent

work with live and pre record environment

Note: Good hearing and attention to detail is required, as is patience and stamina for working long hours. An excellent sense of timing and good communication skills, diplomacy and tact required when working with artistes and other crew, are also necessary.
