Press room Collaboration between abertis telecom and the chinese goverment on mobile television
Barcelona, Novembre 16th, 2007 Barcelona/Beijing, 16 November 2007.- abertis telecom, abertis telecommunication infrastructure operator, and the Government of China, by means of the ABS (Academy of Broadcasting Science), a national scientific research institute under the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT), have reached a cooperation agreement on broadcasting communications. The signature of this agreement coincide with the trade mission of the Instituto Espa ol de Comercio Exterior (ICEX), that has been developing these days in China and it has had the attendency of the Princes of Asturias.
According to such agreement, signed on November 15th, in Beijing by Tobias Martinez, Managing Director of abertis telecom and Ma Ju, President of ABS, in order to develop mobile TV projects together. This event was chaired by the Secretary of State for Commerce and Tourism and ICEX s president, Pedro Mej a, and the Vice Minister of SARFT, Zhang Haitao
abertis telecom and ABS also agreed to work together to make mobile TV demos based on ABS standards at the next 3GSM World Congress, which will take place in Barcelona on 11th-14th February 2008. abertis telecom was the Official Mobile TV Network Partner of the 3GSM World Congress in 2007, with seven different networks for mobile television services.

About ABS
The Academy of Broadcasting Science (ABS), a national scientific research institute under the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT), was first founded in October 1958 as the Institute of Broadcasting Science. In March 1994 it was renamed the Academy of Broadcasting Science and has now developed into a top broadcasting research institution in China.
Since 1980s, by exploring the latest development of broadcasting technologies worldwide, ABS has conducted many research projects and gained valuable experience and achievements in such areas as digital television (including HDTV), satellite broadcasting, cable television, FM, DAB and audio/video broadcasting on Internet. ABS also contributes a lot to the establishment of many national standards and industry standards in the field of broadcasting.
