Roar Into the Year of the Tiger With Netflixs Lunar New Year Collection

Whether it's huddling over a steaming hotpot or exchanging auspicious greetings virtually, Lunar New Year is a time for families and friends to get together and catch up. For many households, it is also a common tradition to gather around the TV to watch a show or two.

To celebrate the Year of the Tiger, which starts on 1 February, Netflix worked with local artists Haeri Cho and Hyungsoon Joo to create the above artwork. Themed A Gift of Wonder , the bespoke illustration depicts the Lunar New Year festivities, gifts and wishes of good fortune.

Netflix has also specially curated a list of films and series for the watch parties during this season. Available now in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Vietnam, Netflix's Lunar New Year Collection spans comedy, drama, romance and action. To make it easier for members to decide what to watch, the collection is divided into eight aptly-named categories.

For example, head over to Crouching Tiger Hidden Gems for The Falls, Taiwan's Oscar entry that portrays the strained relationship between a mother and daughter during quarantine. Or get a dose of forbidden love with fantasy drama Once Upon A Time under The Purrfect Lunar Love Stories.

The Falls

Look in Kung Fu H stle for action heroes such as Donnie Yen starring as legendary martial arts grandmaster Ip Man, or Jackie Chan in the Police Story franchise. Then bring on the laughter with Humorous Hits for comedies like God of Gamblers 2, which sees Andy Lau and Stephen Chow team up against high-rolling gangsters.

Wish Dragon

While the young at heart gets a To Watch with the Cubs category and goes on an adventure with a teenager looking for a childhood friend in a Wish Dragon, those planning to stay home can explore Catch Up Over the Lunar New Year for series such as murder mystery Light the Night, which follows the lives of nightclub hostesses.
