The 2019 MIX 101.5 Christmas Choir Concert took place at Raleigh Improv on Thursday, December 19, and will air on the station on Christmas Day. The concert featured the winners of this year's competition.
MIX 101.5 held a very special musical event to celebrate talented schools in the listening area on Thursday, December 20, 2019. The 7th Annual MIX 101.5 Christmas Choir Concert featured the winners of the 2019 competition. The concert took place beginning at 5pm at Improv Raleigh and was presented by Coastal Credit Union.
The Christmas Choir Competition is truly local, community broadcasting at its best, said CBC Radio Vice President Brian Maloney. Its a chance to highlight the talent of our youth in the community and give back to the arts program at the schools thanks to the generosity of Coastal Credit Union. The Raleigh Improv was a new venue for the event this year and they did a first class job in execution.
The 2019 winners included:
DIVISION 1 FINALISTS (Elementary & Middle Schools)
1st place : AB Combs Leadership Magnet Elementary
2nd place : Immaculata Catholic School
3rd place : Banks Road Elementary
A.B. Combs Elementary, the Division I winner, performs in MIX 101.5's 2019 Christmas Choir Concert at Raleigh Improv on Thursday, December 19.
DIVISION 2 FINALISTS (High Schools)
1st place : Northwood High School
2nd place : Fuquay-Varina High School
3rd place : Athens Drive Magnet High School
The concert ran in order of the list of winners with the exception of Banks Road Elementary which was unable to attend.
Besides being able to perform in this very special concert, the winning choirs received up to $5,000 for their school music programs.
Listen on Christmas Day to hear the concert air on MIX 101.5 at 2pm and 8pm.
