Ningbo was awarded a new name card. In the just concluded session of Fifth China Smart City Conference, Ningbo was awarded the trophy of China Leading Cities of Smart Governance 2014. Meanwhile, Ningbo Economic and Information Technology Committee (Ningbo's Smart City Office) was awarded the title of Contributory Unit of China Smart City Development 2010-2014.
To meet the requirements of modernizing social governance system and capabilities, Ningbo reliant on the construction of smart city has promoted information technology into every aspect of citizen life, economic development, urban governance and political build-up in recent years. Urban operation and development were streamlined accordingly. In the information field, Ningbo established smart service system integrating medicine, food, accommodation, transportation, culture, education and tourism to let all citizens share the fruit of a smart city.
12 million pieces of health information and over 930 million pieces of healthcare information were recorded so far in Ningbo and more than 8,000 patients sought help from public health service platform every day. An all-in-one service system integrating booking register, consultation information and medical resource inquiry was established. Aided by smart mobile intelligent terminal, Ningbo Tong (intelligent transportation)ensures citizens an effective, convenient and comfortable journey. Renrentong Air School provides individual online study space and online interactive class of renowned teachers to junior students in the second and third year across the city. Over 10,000 people visit the website every day.
Driven by the construction of smart city, Ningbo has got revenues of RMB 30.14 billion yuan in software and information service industries, an growth of 28.86% over the previous year. More and more innovation-type enterprises are now leading the new economic growth point. IOT-based (internet of things) security defense and pre-warning system for power grids and IOT system of big data-based central supervision of boilers developed by Ningbo's enterprises were awarded RMB 3 million yuan respectively as a special fund for national IOT development.
