SA's iconic quick service restaurant chain Wimpy have partnered with the forthcoming 3D animated movie Khumba which hits cinemas in 3D on October 25th, and launched 5 collectable characters that will be given away with their kids meals during October and November.
It's the first time that Wimpy have partnered with Cape Town based Triggerfish Animation Studios, and the second movie release from Triggerfish following the successful international release of Adventures in Zambezia in 2012.
Khumba tells the story of a zebra who is born with only half his stripes. When he is blamed for the lack of rain by the rest of his superstitious herd, he embarks on a journey across the Karoo in search of a magical watering hole where legend says the first zebras got their stripes. It is the first time that a movie has been available in both English and Afrikaans - something that's sure to delight the local audiences.
As one of the longest running animation companies in the country, Triggerfish are a major player in the development of the thriving local film industry and produce content that has a uniquely South African feel, something that directly appealed to Wimpy.

As well as the main character of Khumba, kids can also collect some of the other colorful characters from the movie including Mama V; an overprotective wildebeest, Bradley; a flamboyant ostrich, Tombi; another young zebra and best friend to Khumba and Skalk, a wild dog who is voiced in the movie by iconic US actor Steve Buscemi.

The toys theyve created are terrific and its very rewarding for us to see the characters live in a whole new space.
In addition to the collectible characters, visitors to select Wimpy restaurants will also have a chance to meet and interact with both Khumba and Mama V as part of a costume character tour currently taking place at schools and shopping malls across the country.
