Chipper Jones Headlines Final Stretch of Home Games
Bulls to Retire Braves Legend s Number in Pregame Ceremony on August 20
The first-place Durham Bulls return home to the DBAP on Tuesday, August 20, 2013, to begin a two-game series against the Charlotte Knights. Chipper Jones' Jersey Retirement and Military Appreciation Night highlight the short home set.
Following these two home games, the Bulls hit the road for two games in Norfolk before returning to the DBAP on Saturday, August 24 for the final four regular season home games of the season.
Chipper Jones at the DBAP
On Tuesday, August 20, Chipper Jones will become only the fourth player ever to have his number retired by the Durham Bulls organization, joining Crash Davis (8), Joe Morgan (18), and Bill Evers (20). The eight-time All-Star will be in attendance as the Bulls honor him in a ceremony before Durham takes on the Charlotte Knights in the first of two games against the Chicago White Sox Triple-A affiliate. Tuesday's game is presented by AAA Carolinas.
The pregame schedule of events for the Chipper Jones Jersey Retirement ceremony on August 20 is as follows:
5:30pm Gates open at Durham Bulls Athletic Park
6:45pm Chipper Jones driven into ballpark to make lap around the warning track
6:55pm Chipper Jones Jersey Retirement Ceremony
7:15pm Ceremonial First Pitch with Chipper Jones
7:35pm Durham Bulls vs. Charlotte Knights game begins
The rest of the CBC team is getting in on the action when the Bulls retire Chipper Jones number 10. WRAL-TV Sports Reporter Mandy Mitchell will report from the DBAP that evening with a one-on-one interview with Jones. 99.9 The Fans radio co-hosts Adam Gold & Joe Ovies will also spend some time on-air with the legendary Bull.

In conjunction with the Chipper Jones Jersey Retirement game, the Bulls have made the Chipper Playoff Pack available. The two-game pack includes a ticket to the game on August 20, a voucher good for one playoff game at the DBAP and a limited edition Chipper Jones bobblehead for just $19.99. Supplies of the Chipper Playoff Pack are extremely limited.
Military Appreciation Night and the Rest of the Home Season
The short two-game series with Charlotte concludes on Wednesday, August 21 when Kangaroo Express presents Military Appreciation Night. The All-Veteran Parachute Team will sky dive into the DBAP and a group of new United States Marines will take part in an enlistment ceremony before the 7:05pm game. All active military are able to attend Wednesday night's game, and every Durham Bulls home game, for free courtesy of Implus.
