South African actre Kayleigh Gilbert cast in Red Winter and the End

South African actress Kayleigh Gilbert is attacking the film world with a vengeance. Born in the quaint town of Ermelo in South Africa, Kayleigh, the youngest of eight children, knew from a young age that performing was her calling. While her friends would change their minds with the seasons, Kayleigh never did. She always knew that she was to be an actress - there was and is no doubt in her mind that this would be her life's work. by April Neale

Kayleigh moved to Los Angeles in 2012 to pursue her career in acting and modeling. Although she enjoys all acting - film has always been Kayleigh's chosen form of art. She attended The Lee Strasberg and Theatre Film Institute in Hollywood and graduated from the 2 Year Conservatory program in March of 2014. She was soon cast in the lead role of Rena in There is many like us' - a documentary centered around The Holocaust. She was also in a USC Thesis project called Baptized by the Weekend' as well as a pilot named The African President'. She also wrote, produced and starred in a short film of her own called Intrinsic'.

Now, Kayleigh is going back to her roots, cast in two films for which she is ideally and uniquely the perfect fit.

The first film, Red Winter, is an action film that revolves around Apartheid, in which a South African native has found her way to the US after escaping her family which was involved in a major government scam. The epidemic of Apartheid is one that surprisingly few people in the world know much about, yet Kayleigh has had first-hand experience of Apartheid and its aftereffect on the country.

The second film, The End, is a story which involves a young teenage girl living in a small town in South Africa. Her parents have little to no money and survive month to month with humble jobs. Lily gets older and she begins to hang out with a group of rough girls that ride motorcycles and speak Afrikaans, a slang dialect used in parts of South Africa. Lily starts to get into trouble with the police. Her family decides to start a new business and becomes busy. Lily hangs around the house less and less. Lily's family's new business starts to take off. She is confronted with the challenge of deciding her fate. It's a girl vs. self story that needs to come off authentic. This is a role that Kayleigh was born to play.

Authenticity is the key, and both roles require an actress with Kayleigh's unique cultural background and experiences, as both films require a South African girl who can speak with a thick South African accent as well as speak and understand both Afrikaans and Zulu. It's rare to find an actor so perfectly suited for a role-let alone two!

There is no doubt that with all that Kayleigh brings to the table, she will bring these characters to life as no one else can, and continue to create a great future for herself.
