- Panel discussion: From Prevention to Protection: the Genocide Convention 65 Years On

To mark the 65th anniversary of the Convention for the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, the panel will discuss the impact of the Holocaust on genocide prevention, international justice, reconciliation, the future outlook of prevention and protection and the role of civil society and youth in genocide prevention.

Speakers will include Mr. Peter Launsky-Tieffenthal, Under-Secretary-General for Communications and Public Information, Mr. Adama Dieng, Special Adviser of the Secretary-General on the Prevention of Genocide; Mrs. Fatou Bensouda, Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court; Mr. Stuart E. Eizenstat, former Ambassador of the United States to the European Union (1993-1996); Mrs. Mar a Cristina Perceval, Permanent Representative of Argentina to the United Nations; and Mr. Mustafa Haid, Founder and Executive Director of Dawlaty, Beirut, an organization which encourages transitional justice in Syria. The discussion will be moderated by journalist Tunku Varadarajan, Research Fellow at Stanford University's Hoover Institution and a columnist with the Daily Beast.
