AKA Design furniture installed at new ITV Creative facility

AKA Design has supplied the editing and audio desks for ITV Creative's new post-production facility at Gray's Inn Road, London, following a seamless move from the company's original base at The London Studios. For the new facility, AKA produced 3D visuals of the edit suites and the audio studios, to enable coherent interior finishes, equipment layouts and client areas. This also made it simpler for the suites to be signed off by both the operators and the ITV Creative team.

ITV Creative's new facility is home to promo production teams, with over 40 video and audio edit suites, plus grading facilities, used around the clock to complete hundreds of promos each month for on-air and digital broadcasts, social media and outdoor marketing. AKA Design was involved right from the project's conception, delivering full 3D visualisations for each of the areas to help with project planning and vision.

AKA provided two Avid S6 desks in solid and veneered walnut with sprayed cable frame. The audio studios also had matching fold-down voice-over tables, along with producers' tables with integrated power and data points for clients to work easily. AKA also provided seven three-metre online desks in walnut, with leather front buffers and white sprayed monitor bridges, plus two ProMedia desks for the smaller continuity suites. The centre hub of the facility is an ultra-modern eight-metre MCR wall, which AKA faced in metallic acoustic material.

One thing that really helped with the sign-off process with Creative were the 3D visuals that AKA produced, explained post-production consultant for ITV Creative and former Head of Technical Operations at ITV Michael Wrightson. These were amazingly accurate compared to the finished rooms, and really helped us to decide on the best finishes and ergonomics for the different areas. AKA's furniture was within our available budgets too, plus was built and installed on time, which helped the project as a whole to ensure there was almost no impact on ITV Creative's operations.
