The edition of Animayo will be a tribute to women

The 12th edition of Animayo will be a tribute to women It thus becomes first festival in the world that devotes all its programming entirely to the figure of the woman in the cinema of animation, gaming and Visual effects industry.

The 12th Summit, Conferences and International Film Festival Animayo will be in Gran Canaria from 2 to May 6, 2017, with a special programme dedicated entirely to women in the cinema of animation, gaming and Visual effects industry, promising an intense week full of activities.

This program aims to pay tribute to the great female talent in the industry and demonstrate the interest of his work, a chance to increasingly promote the reflection on the necessary evolution of the representation of women and all their work in the area of the festival.

As well as many events to it long and width of the planet offer in its programming sections dedicated to the woman, Animayo has decided give you a spin more than nut and demonstrate in this twelfth edition, that the work of the woman in the sector audiovisual, as well as it is in many others, not only produces a work marginal capable of fill some sections , but that its importance is so prominent as to turn over all of the programming of a festival, and dedicated entirely to their figure.

Dami n Perea, director of the festival, who has spent two years working on this Special Edition, says that "women in the world of animation has always been very important and it deserves to claim the right to their space and the relevance of its work". During the past eleven editions Dami n Perea has been presented Animayo finery, this year will be a step backwards so that even this place is taken by a woman. The poster of the festival Animayo 2017 will be the starting point to a myriad of content that will be as great female protagonist.

There will also be projections of the Palmares Animayo 2017, contests, premieres, concerts, outdoor activities and the second edition of the Animayo Forum, aimed at professionals.

The program will show the role of women and will contribute to the reflection on his contribution to the industry, the special artistic sensibility of the women, his way of understanding the film, their values and creative talent, and with special emphasis on overcoming barriers and obstacles women face that today, without falling into sexism.

Festival international Animayo surpassed in its last edition all forecasts of assistance more than one twenty percent their attendance to the 2015 Edition, reaching historical figures of 15.003 participants.

An unmissable

In its consolidation as a reference festival Animayo has been chosen by the Academy of Arts and cinematographic Sciences of Spain as collaborator festival for pre-selection and inscription of the works in the category best animated short film of the 31st Edition of the Goya Awards. Dami n Perea, director and producer, is also from this year, one of the ambassadors of the European Animation Emile Awards.
