ESPN is back with its latest real-time animated alternative presentation of an NFL game: The Simpsons Funday Football.
Iconic characters from The Simpsons will join an animated version of the Monday Night Football game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Dallas Cowboys, and it will all be made possible by a combination of data processing and real-time-visualization technology from Beyond Sports. This marks the second such NFL alternative presentation by ESPN, following 2023's Toy Story Funday Football, which was honored with three Sports Emmy Awards.
In advance of this unique production, SVG spoke with Sander Schouten, co-founder/CEO, Sony's Beyond Sports, about how tracking technology enables the real-time animations, how the tech has evolved, and how the Sony Sports brand continues to grow.
