South African television producer nominated for an Emmy

South African television producer/director Robin Acutt was recently nominated for an Emmy award for Outstanding Travel and Adventure program for Travel Channel's Planet Primetime . Acutt was a Supervising Producer on the show, along with his wife Carol Carimi Acutt.

Planet Primetime follows host Karla Cavalli as she travels to various countries around the world and experiences their original and unique television shows, often by taking part in them. One episode was shot in South Africa, and Cavalli visited the sets of Rhythm City , Those Who Can't , Our Perfect Wedding , Skeem Saam , Loyiso Gola , and Khumbul'ekhaya .

She also interviewed the director Rolie Nikiwe, worked on a South African accent with the actress Fiona Ramsay and visited game preserve Glen Afric where a lot of films and TV shows have been shot. Local production was facilitated by Karen Brooks of Facilitation South Africa.

Acutt has produced numerous hit US TV shows, from the Emmy winning Through the Wormhole with Morgan Freeman to Kitchen Nightmares featuring Gordon Ramsay.
