Netflix has announced a 6.77 million increase in subscriptions in Q3, shoring up the company's position in the streaming wars.

Stranger Things was reportedly the streamer's most watched season to date, watched by 64 million households.

Over the next three months, the company projects another 7.6 million increase in subscriptions, with a new series of The Crown and Martin Scorsese's The Irishman due on the platform.

Addressing upcoming competition from Disney+ and Apple TV+, Netflix said: In our view, the likely outcome from the launch of these new services will be to accelerate the shift from linear TV to on-demand consumption of entertainment.

The company also said it will disclose revenue and membership by regions in its next earnings report, separating Asia Pacific, Europe, Middle East/Africa, Latin America and the US.
